Spain Square -Plaza de España is one of the main squares of Madrid, and it's the start of the famous Gran Vía, the central street of the modern city.
The sculptural piece at the centre celebrates the writer Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616), who was born in Alcalá de Henares, about 30 kilometres (20 miles) from Madrid, by the means of some characters of his famous Don Quijote. Apart from the "hidalgo" himself, visitors can easily recognize his vale, Sancho Panza, his horse, Rocinante, and the lady of his dreams, Dulcinea.
